On June 21, 1936, Sisters of the Trinitarian Order solicited donations for land on which a Catholic church could be built. The sisters chose the present site for its central location within the community of Bellview. Ground was broken on April 13, 1937.
The dedication of the original St. Anne’s church took place on June 13, 1937, with Archbishop T.J. Toolen of Mobile presiding; St. Anne’s became a mission of Little Flower Parish in Myrtle Grove.
St. Anne’s became a parish on January 17, 1964, with 42 families and a new priest, Father John A. Licari, who remained pastor until 1993.
In 1965, the rectory was built and became the permanent home for Father Licari; it also doubled as the parish office.
The first St. Anne’s Round-Up was held on Sunday, November 7, 1965, and was held every year until 2002; the Christmas Lighting Festival was held annually until 2004.
A surplus Navy barracks became the Scarlett O’Hara Hall in 1967, and all parish functions were held in this building.
The present Swiss-style church was dedicated in December 1977. The gazebo and courtyard were added in 1979, and the Memorial Fountain was built in 1987.
The Family Life Center was dedicated in June 1999, and now houses the parish office, hosts parish functions, and serves the community at large at every opportunity.
