Five Children of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Daw: Earl, David, Lucille, Maxine, and J.W., were baptized in St. Anne's Chapel on Sunday, July 25, 1937. Then eighteen children-13 boys and 5 girls-received their first Holy Communion. A newspaper clipping says, "Father Mundy gave the children a beautiful talk on what it means to receive Our Lord for the first time, and congratulated them and their parents on their being the first little ones to receive their first Holy Communion in the new St. Anne's Chapel. The Sisters of the Blessed Trinity who instructed and prepared the children were very happy to see them so sincere and devout in their desire to receive Our Lord worthily. The C.D. of A., through Mrs. Thomas Burnham, supplied the boys with white cassocks and surplices and lovely dresses and everything necessary for the little girls, they also saw that each little boy and girl had a first Holy Communion prayer book, beads and scapular. Mrs. Brennan from Cleveland also sent the Sisters an offering to be used for the little ones."
Until her transfer from Pensacola, Sister Mary Alacoque played the organ which had been given to St. Anne's. Harry Newkirk, a local musician, was organist for a while, as was Miss Marie Patti. Mrs. Pat (Gloria Draper) Duncan, wife of the former young altar boy, came over from Mobile on weekends and stayed withher in-laws in Beaulah: her husband was in the service at that time. Gloria played the organ at St. Anne's during that time.
The chapel had a wood heater, and the sisters and youngsters collected firewood when it was needed. Sister Rose Anita remembers her wood chopping chores well. It was several years before the old heater was replaced.
On February 14, 1939, the first wedding was performed in St. Anne's Chapel by Father M.P. Campodonica of Sacred Heart Church: the couple he married was Elmer Felton and Mary Louise Clepper. The next marriage was that of George Roberts and Jane Clepper, on September 6, 1940, performed by Father James Walthen with Father Raleigh in attendance. According to George, Father Walthen spoke with a definite Irish broque: in fact, George says he couldn't understand a word that Father was saying, but that Father Raleigh would smile and nod whenever he was suppose to make a response, and so he would. Marcel Gauthier and Joyce Pate were the third couple to marry at St. Anne, Father James Smith officiated at their weeding on May 25, 1942. Ed and Ida Austin were probably among the first couples to have their marriage blessed at St. Anne's, according to their nephew, George Roberts.
Father M.P. Campodonica of Sacred Heart, Father Henry Clark(a missionary priest who also worked for The Catholic Week) and Father Raleigh of St. Joseph's were by turn in charge of St. Anne's after Father Mundy had left. It was while Father Clark was in charge that transportation was provided for the first time for local children attending Catholic schools. At one time there were sixteen going to Sacred Heart and seven to St. Michael's. Mr. Will Roberts was in charge of arrangements from Bellview and Mr. Irving Francis had the Millview area. Meanwhile, the volunteer drivers continued to pick up people on Sundays and bring them to Mass. The roads were still terrible but the spirit was wonderful.
